I have become a passionate user researcher in the past two years as I completed my Masters degree in the study of design and culture, and my time working with the talented user research team at adidas. This field has drawn me in because of the ability to inform design via the user and the connection that is created between designers and users of digital products.
When I first came on an exchange program to the Netherlands in 2013 I never expected I would find such a welcoming place that has allowed me to grow personally and professionally. I have gained experiences and insights that I couldn’t have earned any other way than being an expat in Amsterdam. Many of my best memories are from the time I spent volunteering for the Erasmus Student Network which helps exchange students make the most out of their time abroad.
Prior to my move overseas, I completed my Bachelors of Arts at Valdosta State University. During my bachelors I learned skills in printmaking, ceramics, drawing and placed my focused on graphic design, photography and art history. While studying I completed a graphic design internship at BMW where I was first exposed to an agile workflow and the value of designers and developers working together in the same room. In addition to working at adidas and BMW, I have worked in the hospitality industry and have a passion for creating excellent customer service experiences face to face.
Outside of work I enjoy crafts like needlepoint, baking, and staying fit by biking and jogging. Right now I am excited to see what I can learn and accomplish in the next 5 years as I continue to contribute towards creating wonderful experiences for users through data driven design.
